Monday, August 26: EHS @ 3-5 pm

Tuesday, August 27: EHS @ 3-4:30 pm

Wednesday, August 28: Hills @ Homecoming Park. Bus will leave at 3 pm and will arrive back to EHS around 5:30 pm. We are planning to stop and get ice cream on the way back.

Thursday, August 29: EHS @ 3-4:30 pm

Friday, August 30: No School. HS practice @ 8 am. MS is welcome to join but it is not mandatory.

Saturday, August 31st: Optional (but encouraged) Long run @ 8 am @ Metamora Community Park. Country Charm breakfast afterwards?

Monday, September 2: Happy Labor Day! No practice

Tuesday, September 3: HS practice @ 8 am. MS is welcome to join but it is not mandatory.

Wednesday, September 4: EHS @ 3 pm

6:30am – Bus leaves from HS (est. arrival 7:30am)
9:00am – High School boys race

9:45am – High School girls race

10:30am – Middle School boys race
11:00am – Middle School girls race
1:00pm – Estimated return to EHS
Meet Notes – Our 2019 XC racing season kicks off in somewhat familiar fashion with the Defiance Early Bird Open.  The change this year is the course: we are no longer running at Camp Lakota but instead race at Defiance High School.  The reaction from the athletes to the news that they would not face “The Hill” has been mixed, but suffice it to say this year’s course will be flatter and therefore likely faster.  This change will hopefully also mean easier parking and access to the course.
We have not been on this particular course yet, but the course maps (linked above) look to be more or less an “out and back” style route. Runners will start and finish on the infield at the track, including a section actually on the track. Because of this, and runners wearing spikes need to be sure their spikes are 1/4″ or smaller.
The weather forecast looks great for this weekend, although we should point out it always seems to feel hotter than the actual temperature at this meet so hydration is every bit as important as always.  Get a great night’s sleep and we’ll see you Saturday morning!

Team Meals & Race Day Snacks!

It’s finally here….the team meal and race day snack sign up!

Team meals will take place in the H.S. cafeteria at 3:45 p.m. on Fridays before race days and are great for team bonding. Race snacks are great for replenishing our runners after they compete. There are a couple of sign ups for each meal/snack as a group of parents can share the team meal and/or race snack. Team meals include main dish, sides, dessert, and drinks. Pastas or any “carb loaded/high protein” dish would be nutritious for our runners. Suggestions for race day snacks include granola bars, peanut butter crackers, fruit, bagels, water, chocolate milk, Gatorade, etc. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. Please plan for at least 33 people (20 HS & 10 MS + coaches). Thank you- your support is greatly appreciated!

*Please keep in mind we do have a peanut, kiwi, strawberry, banana, and egg allergy. We ask if you bring a mixed fruit dish that you keep a small portion excluding strawberries, kiwi, and bananas. Thank you!

August 5 Weekly Schedule

Ahh, the last full week of summer vacation.

August 5-7: High School and Middle School practice at EHS from 7-8:30 am. Meet by the track.

August 8: Off-site practice at Wildwood Metropark. Meet at the Metz Visitor Center at 3 pm. If you need a ride, contact Coach Hesson. After the run, we will be going to Sylvania Dave’s Running Shop team night (4-8 pm). Athletes can save 15% off shoes and 20% off apparel. Free t-shirt with purchase and free pizza!

August 9: Practice at EHS from 7-8:30 am for both HS & MS. Meet by the track.

Looking ahead to next week…

August 12: Practice at EHS from 3-5 pm

August 13: Practice at EHS from 3-4:30 pm.

August 14: First Day of School! Practice will be right after school from 3-4:30 pm.

August 15: Tentatively planning to run County Road 16 Hills. Meet at EHS at 3 pm and then we will drive to Co. Rd. 16. Estimated time back to EHS is 5 pm.

August 16: Practice at EHS from 3-4:30 pm.
