August 5 Weekly Schedule

Ahh, the last full week of summer vacation.

August 5-7: High School and Middle School practice at EHS from 7-8:30 am. Meet by the track.

August 8: Off-site practice at Wildwood Metropark. Meet at the Metz Visitor Center at 3 pm. If you need a ride, contact Coach Hesson. After the run, we will be going to Sylvania Dave’s Running Shop team night (4-8 pm). Athletes can save 15% off shoes and 20% off apparel. Free t-shirt with purchase and free pizza!

August 9: Practice at EHS from 7-8:30 am for both HS & MS. Meet by the track.

Looking ahead to next week…

August 12: Practice at EHS from 3-5 pm

August 13: Practice at EHS from 3-4:30 pm.

August 14: First Day of School! Practice will be right after school from 3-4:30 pm.

August 15: Tentatively planning to run County Road 16 Hills. Meet at EHS at 3 pm and then we will drive to Co. Rd. 16. Estimated time back to EHS is 5 pm.

August 16: Practice at EHS from 3-4:30 pm.

Team Meals & Race Day Snacks

Back by popular demand…our team meal/post race snack sign up is here! Your support is greatly appreciated!

Team meals will take place in the H.S. cafeteria at 3:45 p.m. on Fridays before race days and are great for team bonding. Race snacks are great for replenishing our runners after they compete. There are a couple of sign ups for each meal/snack as a group of parents can share the team meal and/or race snack. Team meals usually include main dish, sides, dessert, and drinks. We will supply the paper products and silverware. We have about 12 middle schoolers and 20 high schoolers; altogether plan for about 35 people including the coaches. Thank you!

Spirit Wear Information

We will have 2 options for ordering spirit wear for this year. Option #1 is with Team Sport, see link–https://evergreenxc2018.itemorder.com/**Please note that orders with Team Sports take about 6 weeks to process/delivery and it ends on Sunday, August 12 @ 11:59 pm

Option #2 will be with a local business (Haas-Jordan- we have received generous donations through this company and it is a great way to thank them). We are in the process of finalizing our own logo and through this package, we will have t-shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants, pullover jackets, etc. This spirit wear package will be available in the near future (stay tuned) and orders will be process/delivered in a faster time frame than Team Sports (2 weeks or so). **Warm-Ups will be ordered through option #2. This year, we are going to have athletes purchase their own warm-ups and they will be able to keep them. More information to come next week.

*We will not be having practice after school tomorrow (Friday, August 18). Instead, we will be having a team bonding movie night from 6-8:30. We will meet in the music room at Evergreen Elementary (meet at front doors). Pizza and drinks will be provided; please bring a snack/dessert to share. We will be watching the movie Tracktown (http://tracktownmovie.com). Everyone is welcome 🙂

Mandatory Practice & Team Pictures

The last couple of days have been incredible as our first cross country camp was a huge success! We were blessed with beautiful weather, great food, challenging workouts, supportive friends, and positive attitudes. I am so proud of these runners for their dedication in bettering themselves stride for stride. Thank you parents for your continual support; we plan to continue hosting a cross country camp as a tradition that will strengthen our team each year.

Looking ahead to this week…

Sunday, July 30– Long run meeting at 7 pm at Lyons Park

Tuesday, August 1st– 1st day of mandatory practice for high schoolers. We will be meeting at 7 am at Evergreen HS. Practice will be 7am Tue-Fri this week. If transportation is a concern, please let Coach Schwan or Coach Hesson know so transportation arrangements can be made.

Thursday, August 3rd – Fall sports parent meeting at 6pm in the HS gym. This will be a great chance to meet the new Athletic Director, Eric Simon, and to get information on athlete expectations, required forms, etc.

Saturday, August 5th– Team pictures for high schoolers at 1 pm at Evergreen HS. *Uniforms will be passed out at practice on Friday, August 4th.

Monday, August 7th– 1st day of mandatory practice for middle schoolers- 7 am at Evergreen HS. If transportation is a concern, please let a coach know.

XC Car Wash Information

The CAR WASH is ON! We have found a location–Taco Bell on Central Ave (next to Meijer). The Car Wash will be on September 10 from 9 am- 4 pm. There will be a morning shift (9 am- 1 pm) and an afternoon shift (1 pm- 4 pm). MS runners are encouraged to work the afternoon shift after the Archbold meet.

I know that time is limited, but I know we can pull it off! With that said, I will be very understanding if athletes are not able to attend due to prior scheduled events (with a parent’s note). However, they still must collect the 10 pledges ($100). Pledge forms will be distributed tomorrow at practice. Families with 2 runners are encouraged to combine their total pledges to 15 instead of 20. Runners are encouraged to ask family, friends, teachers, businesses, etc. to pledge them 2 pennies for each car (500) they wash which equals to a $10 pledge. We will be advertising this as a FREE CAR WASH with a freewill donation bin as well.
 
All the proceeds will go towards funding a cross country camp for next summer and team apparel.
 
Taco Bell is generously donating the water and we may have a donation for soap and rags. If you have any 5 gallon buckets that we could borrow, we would greatly appreciate it.
 
Pledge forms and money will need to be turned in by Friday, September 9 at practice.
 
Don’t hesitate to ask any questions. This will be a CAR WASH only; no bake sale as we don’t want to take business away from Taco Bell. 🙂
